Memory Ridgebacks
Raising registered Rhodesian Ridgebacks on a ranch
Meet Merrily
I have had a lifelong love for Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Annie was the first Ridgeback I cut my teeth on; literally. She was a year old when my parents rescued her and I was born shortly after. She put up wonderfully with my poking, pinching, and gnawing (or so I am told). There were 7 kids and Annie became the self-appointed guardian and babysitter. We felt safe and protected when my parents were gone because Annie was on watch. She passed away from cancer at the age of 13. Several years down the road found me online looking at Ridgeback breeders’ websites from around the world! I wanted my own Ridgeback but I wanted to get a pup from a responsible breeder that focused on good conformation, excellent disposition and healthy genetics. After a two year search I finally purchased two gorgeous females from Ridgeville Ridgebacks in Canada. We live on a large horse and cattle ranch and the dogs love the lifestyle! They go with me on truck rides to fix fence and check cows. They love to romp and wrestle in the fields and arena and some days they even like to play cowdogs. They have amazing kind dispositions but are the first to warn when anything seems off. My goal is to breed beautiful dark red wheaten Ridgebacks that are true to the breed, with excellent dispositions, and only the best and healthiest genetics.
My Rhodesian Ridgeback Dogs
Sister
This pretty girl is a dream come true! Glenaholm African Skye “Sister” is straight from the highly respected Glenaholm Ridgeback kennel from South Africa. She endured a very long flight to the US of A but you will never meet a more resilient or happy dog in your life! Sister has an incredibly sweet nature and is full of life.
Scout
Scout is a combination of Italian and Canadian bloodlines. She has an indomitable spirit and loads of personality. She’s brave and loyal like a true Ridgeback. Athletic is her middle name! She loves jumping fences, big hay bales, and into the back of the truck. She’s always game to go on an adventure with me!
Ridgeback Puppies
Every litter is carefully planned and takes a lot of time and work to make happen. I artificially inseminate (Ai) my females to male dogs too far away to meet up conveniently. This process takes many trips to the vet, lots of blood draws, several hundred miles driven, and semen shipped overnight. Whelping the puppies takes several hours generally and it’s common to be up all night doing it. Mama and I are both exhausted and very involved in making sure every new puppy is nursing, vigorous, and healthy. Not to mention all the loads of laundry and clean up that accompany it. As the puppies grow and get on solid foods, I make sure they are properly socialized and I begin to see their temperaments and personalities as they interact with me and each other. Feeding, worming, exercise, vaccinations, and clean bedding keep me busy not to mention the care of the older dogs and my other chores. I pick the puppy to fit the approved family/individual. Each puppy comes with a puppy packet and contract. My goal is to hand over a beautiful, healthy, clean, socialized, and well-loved puppy at 8 weeks of age.
